If you take an abnormal psychology class, you will see how messed up people have become. You actually don’t even need to take a class. You can just read the news to find out. But anyways, the DSM V has been recently released, incorporating more and more psychological disorders, mood disorders, and personality disorders. And if you like myself have experienced the sensation of anxiety disorder , OCD , or the like, you can attest first hand about how bizarre and strange you feel you have become. To say that we feel like we have become different people could be the least that we feel. Whatever happened to how we used to feel and be? Where did that sense of normalcy go?
How on earth can we prevent these bizarre and strange behaviours?
People like Ana Carolina Reston who died from biological complications due to anorexia, was 5 ft. 8, and 88 lbs. She was motivated to keep losing weight because one model critic said she was too “fat”.
Or Virginia Woolfe, who died by drowning herself in water, because she had bipolar depression?
Or Andrea Yates, who was Valedictorian of her High School class, an established nurse at MD Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas, yet she drowned her 5 babies in the tub due to her bipolar depression?
Or this year, August Ames hung herself due to bipolar depression and multiple personality disorder.
It is because of such strange and damaging behavior such as this that we have the field of abnormal psychology and books like the DSM-V
How to prevent this all? Why do people have these ailments? And what is the cure?
I had an answer for you, and I hope to be able to tell you the answer after I’m cued from my depression. Until that, keep on searching and praying, and asking God to provide that real solution for these emotional problems.
